Stars of CES

If you're a tech savvy, but couldn't attend the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, here;s a lowdown on some really innovative and unusual gadgets that were on display at the show.

1. The Dot iPhone lens attachment
     The$79 Dot clips on to an iPhone, aligning with the lens of the camera, and allows the smartphone to shoot 360-degree panoramic video. A version of Dot for the Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone will be available in the first half of this year. More models for the Android phones are expected later







2. The HP Envy 14 Spectre laptop
     The HP Envy 14 Spectre laptop from Hawlett-Packard was one gadget to watch out for. The Windows powered HP 14 Spectre was named best computer at CES and is one of the several dozen ultrabooks unveiled at CES, THE HP Envy 14 Spectre is to go on sale in February for $1,399 (Rs. 72,000 approx).






3. Motorised Shoes
    An invention of industrial designe Peter Treadway, the battery powered hightech footwear allows users to glide along at a speed of up to 10 miles per hour (16 kilometer per hour). The shoes will begin shipping in March and will cost $649 ( Rs. 34,000 approx).






4. The Asus Memo 370T
    The Tablet computer from Asus Taiwan was named best tablet at CES. It has a 7" ( 17.8 cm) screen, is powered by the latest version of Android software for tablets and costs $250 ( Rs. 13,000), half the price of the cheapest iPad.
















5. Nokia Lumia 900
    The Lumia 900, which is powered by Microsoft,s Windows Phone 7 software, was named best cellphone at CES. Pricing and availability were not announced for the Lumia 900, seen as Nokia's bid to break into a US smartphone market dominated by Apple's iPhone and handsets powered by Google's Android software.







6. The Ascend P1S smartphone
    At just 0.26 inches (6.68 millimeter) thick, the Ascend P1S smartphone from China's Huawei is the world's slimmest smartphone, according to Huawei. The Android-powered Ascend P1S is to go on sale in Europe in March and worldwide in the following months. It is expected to sell for around $400) Rs. 20,500 approx).
